FIFA offside tech tracks 29 points per player

FIFA’s semi-automated offside technology, introduced at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, used 12 dedicated cameras mounted under each stadium’s roof to track up to 29 separate data points on every player - all the limbs and extremities relevant to an offside ruling - 50 times per second. A separate sensor inside the match ball reported 500 times per second to pin down the exact kick point.
