When Amazon announced on March 19, 2012 that it would acquire Kiva Systems, the price was “approximately $775 million in cash, as adjusted for the assumption of options and other items.” At the time it was one of Amazon’s largest acquisitions. Kiva’s autonomous shelf-moving robots became the foundation of what Amazon later rebranded as Amazon Robotics.
