Stargate intends to invest 500 billion dollars

Announced January 21, 2025, the Stargate Project is described as “a new company which intends to invest 500 billion dollars over the next four years building new AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the United States,” beginning by “deploying 100 billion dollars immediately.” Initial equity funders are SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX. Verified live from SoftBank’s own press release, which carries identical text to OpenAI’s announcement (the latter returns HTTP 403 to automated fetchers).
