Databricks agrees to acquire AI security platform Panther

On June 16, 2026, Databricks announced it had agreed to acquire Panther, an AI-powered Security Operations Center (SOC) platform. Panther offers more than 100 out-of-the-box data integrations, detection-as-code capabilities, and agentic SOC workflows. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Databricks framed the deal as advancing its security lakehouse vision, a category meant to disrupt legacy SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems with an agentic, AI-driven approach to threat detection and response. It is one of several security-focused acquisitions the company has made.

The move reflects a broader trend of data and AI platform companies extending into cybersecurity, where large volumes of telemetry and agentic automation are a natural fit for lakehouse architectures.
