Generalist AI raises $400 million for physical AI robot models

On June 4, 2026, Generalist AI announced it had raised $400 million in new funding, bringing the company’s total raised to more than half a billion dollars. The San Mateo, California company said it would use the capital to accelerate its mission of building physical AGI - artificial general intelligence that can operate in the physical world through robots.

According to Generalist’s announcement, the round was led by Radical Ventures, with new investors 8VC, Union Square Ventures, Hanabi Capital, and Norwest. Existing backers including NVIDIA, Boldstart Ventures, Spark Capital, Bezos Expeditions, and NFDG also participated. The company listed angel investors including Bin Lin, Fei-Fei Li, and Naval Ravikant.

Founded in 2024, Generalist AI builds embodied foundation models intended to work across a range of robotic systems. In November 2025 it released GEN-0, which the company said brought robots into the pretraining era. Generalist said the new funding would go toward expanding its physical data engine, purchasing cloud compute, and scaling real-world testing.
