On June 16, 2026, Mobileye announced it would establish a vertically integrated robotaxi business, expanding beyond supplying autonomous-driving technology to directly operating its own ride-hailing service. The company plans to launch in a major US metropolitan market in 2027 with an initial fleet of roughly 100 vehicles, then scale to about 17,000 vehicles over the following five years.
The operation would combine Mobileye’s Drive self-driving system with its Moovit subsidiary’s mobility platform, fleet management, and teleoperation infrastructure into a single operating division. CEO Amnon Shashua framed the move as additive rather than competitive with Mobileye’s existing customers, saying the initiative is not a replacement for existing partnerships but an extension of them.
The announcement positions Mobileye to compete more directly with operators such as Waymo, Zoox, and Tesla.
