On October 21, 2026, OpenAI announced a partnership with Google Cloud to bring its frontier models and Codex agentic workflows into Google Cloud’s Model Garden. Customers will be able to buy OpenAI frontier models through Model Garden, transacted via the Google Cloud Marketplace, and enterprises with Google Cloud spend commitments will be able to draw those commitments down on the purchases.
OpenAI also said its models will soon be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent. The post quotes OpenAI president Greg Brockman calling the partnership “an important step in making our most capable models and Codex available where customers are already building,” and Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian saying Google is “focused on giving customers a broad selection of models, including those from OpenAI.”
General availability is “planned in the coming weeks,” with access by request in the meantime. The post closes with the line “Microsoft remains OpenAI’s primary cloud partner.” It follows OpenAI’s June 2026 arrangement letting customers use Oracle cloud commitments for OpenAI models and Codex.
Why it matters: OpenAI’s models will be sold inside the cloud of the company whose Gemini models are its most direct competitor, and inside Google’s own agent products. Together with Anthropic’s Google Cloud announcement the next day, it shows the frontier labs treating every large cloud as a distribution channel rather than tying themselves to one host.
What it does not show: this is an announcement, not a launch. The post names no specific models, prices, regions or date for general availability.
