According to Visa’s newsroom, transactions operate within user-defined controls such as spending limits, merchant categories, or required approvals. The system uses tokenized Visa credentials together with real-time authorization and fraud monitoring. Visa positioned the effort within its broader Intelligent Commerce initiative to extend secure payments into environments where AI agents increasingly facilitate transactions.
The announcement said both companies would explore enterprise applications, including developer-focused experiences powered by OpenAI’s Codex coding agent, along with additional automated and conversational workflows. Visa’s Chief Product and Strategy Officer Jack Forestell was quoted saying that AI will transform commerce more profoundly than the internet or mobile technology ever did.
