Daniela Amodei is a co-founder and the President of Anthropic, the AI safety company. Anthropic’s own announcement of its early funding describes the company as “led by siblings Dario Amodei (CEO) and Daniela Amodei (President),” and its company page lists her among the board of directors. As President she leads the company’s business operations, policy, hiring, and much of its safety organization, the counterpart to her brother’s role as chief executive and research lead.
Before Anthropic, Daniela Amodei worked at OpenAI, where she held a leadership role spanning safety and policy. In 2021 she left, together with her brother Dario and a group of other former OpenAI staff, to found Anthropic around an explicit thesis that AI systems should be built to be reliable, interpretable, and safe. She had earlier worked in operations and people roles at the payments company Stripe.
For the library’s reader, Daniela Amodei is the operating half of the sibling team behind one of the most consequential AI companies, and she is named across the entries on Anthropic’s founding and its safety-first positioning. Where Dario Amodei is the public face of Anthropic’s research and its views on AI risk, Daniela is the figure who built and runs the organization that turns those views into a functioning company.
